Savannah Gankiewicz, current Miss USA, announced that she has received death threats after assuming the crown following the resignation of model Noelia Voigt.
In a video broadcast through platform The messages and threats against her have affected her in recent days.
“Since getting this degree, I have dealt with a lot of bullying and harassment, and it really is, it breaks my heart. I’m sorry. “I didn’t want to cry, but I feel like it’s hard, because I wish people could see where my heart comes from,” she said.
The video was captured at an event in his native Hawaii, where he expressed that he hopes that speaking out will serve as an example to move forward.
“My intention is to help Lahaina and the residents of Maui and have a platform to do so, but also show young women that they can be bullied and hurt, but that you stand up and move forward and continue to use your voice,” she added.
Noelia Voigt left the crown on May 6, after reporting in a statement that she would be focused on her mental health.
Later, it emerged in media such as NBC News that one of the reasons for her resignation was the toxic environment in the Miss USA organization, generated by a case of sexual harassment by the executive director that the beauty queen accused.
“There is a toxic work environment within the Miss USA organization that is at best poor management and at worst bullying and harassment. “This started shortly after winning the title of Miss USA 2023,” Voigt said.
