After the trans actress Karla Sofía Gascón was insulted by the far-right leader Marión Maréchal for her victory as Best Female Performance, along with her co-stars in the film “Emilia Pérez” at the last Cannes Festival, at least six advocacy organizations of the LGBTQ+ communities launched against the French woman through an accusation before the Paris Prosecutor’s Office.

It was through her personal account on “Progress for the left is the elimination of women and mothers.”

After the publication of the French leader’s message, a large number of users considered it an “insult due to gender identity,” pointing out that she should be punished and fined.

What did Marion Maréchal say after the series of criticisms?

After the series of criticisms she received against her following her publication, Marion Maréchal herself broke the silence through an interview with the France Inter station, where she indicated that she would not allow herself to be “intimidated.”

I am not going to be intimidated by legal threats from LGBT militants-activists… the truth is that being a man or a woman is a biological reality, whether you like it or not. The XX and XY chromosomes cannot be undone.”

Prior to Maréchal’s reaction, six organizations released a statement in which they made official the complaint against the Frenchwoman for “having violated the laws of the Republic by promoting hatred and discrimination.”

This type of crime is usually punishable by up to one year in prison as well as a fine of about $49,000 under French law.

Karla Sofía Gascón makes history in Cannes

The Spanish actress, with an extensive career in countries such as Spain, Mexico, among others, became, on May 25, the first trans actress to win the award for Best Female Performance in Cannes, along with Selena Gómez, Zoe Saldaña and Adriana Paz, in the film “Emilia Pérez”.

In this film, the Iberian interpreter plays the leader of a cartel in Mexico, called “Manitas” who asks the help of a lawyer, Zoe Saldaña, to help her in her transition from man to woman.

When going on stage to collect the award, Karla Sofía Gascón dedicated the award to trans people and artists in addition to sending a message of support to the same community.
