Walmart recently committed to opening or converting more than 150 stores over the next 5 years, and the Neighborhood Market format will benefit from 2 new stores, one in the Dune Lakes area of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and the other in the neighborhood of Vine City in Atlanta, being the first to open under the new initiative.

“Since 1998, Walmart customers have sought the convenience of Neighborhood Markets to get what they need. A smaller size meets a stellar assortment, creating a store that puts the community at the center. And that’s not going to change,” said Kyle Kinnard, senior vice president of neighborhood markets, Walmart US.

The stores are not just new or remodeled. They are also bigger. With 57,000 square feet of sales floor and pickup and delivery space, the Dune Lakes and Vine City stores will be about 17,000 square feet larger than the average neighborhood market.

The 2 new stores will add:

Worth

Customers will see the biggest profits in the fresh produce departments. There will be more to choose from in bakery, produce, meat and dairy. Additionally, the expanded deli service will offer more hot box options.

Speed

The updated stores also feature wider aisles to give customers more space to shop and make navigating the stores easier than it already is. One of the goals with the new design is to help visitors find what they need more quickly and easily, whether they choose to shop in-store or online.

Convenience

The two new stores incorporate a Health Services Room in their pharmacies to provide customers with privacy for vaccinations and consultations. The addition of a Mother’s Room will allow nursing mothers to shop in these new stores while caring for their little ones.

“The Neighborhood Market of the past, present and future continues to be well positioned to support our customers, no matter their needs or how they choose to shop,” Kinnard said.
