The Madrid judge who is investigating “possible illegalities” in contracts of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, such as the one that transferred the Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, has agreed to charge the former soccer player and businessman Gerard Piqué, who would have agreed on an annual commission of 4 million euros for that agreement.

Magistrate Delia Rodrigo issued an order in which she agreed to expand the investigation against fifteen people, including the former Barça player, but also the president of the RFEF Pedro Rocha – to whom she already announced it in an appearance -; the personal friend of the former federation president Luis Rubiales, the businessman Francisco Javier Martín Alcaide, Nene, or his wife.

Among those investigated that the judge specifies in her new order is the company Gruconsa, which carried out the works on the La Cartuja stadium in Seville, several of its directors; the former legal advisor of the RFEF Tomás González Cueto -who already appeared before the magistrate after being arrested-; the former director of legal services Pedro Manuel González Segura or his brother Ángel Ignacio, who provided services in the aforementioned company.

In this case, which is also directed against Luis Rubiales, the judge investigates whether crimes of corruption in business or unfair administration were committed regarding various RFEF contracts when he was in charge, without ruling out possible money laundering.

One of these contracts is the one that brought the Super Cup to Saudi Arabia under several agreements signed in 2019 – and extended a year later – between the RFEF and the Saudi company Sela, in which a “success bonus” was established in favor of of a “third party agent” -Piqué, representing the company Kosmos- who was not identified and who “is revealed” in another document.

Piqué’s company among the beneficiaries

The judge highlights a clause in the contract by which the RFEF “tried to guarantee” the payment of 4 million euros per year in commission in favor of Kosmos, “even though this company would formally be Sela’s commission agent,” and emphasizes that in the At the time of the signing, Piqué was still a Barça player, a team that participated in the Super Cup.

Pedro Rocha, in his capacity as economic vice president, would then be responsible for either direct intervention in said contract with Saudi Arabia, or the economic commission that he chaired to analyze the extensions, although – says the judge – “apparently” He abstained both from convening this body in the contracting and from demanding the file.

In her order, the judge details the main lines of investigation of the case, such as the corporate network in which “RFEF management personnel”, employees and businessmen close to Rubiales participated, and detects a “possible triangulation of funds” between the Federation , the company Dismantec and Gruconsa, with respect to which he has observed some “eye-catching and interesting” income.

According to the thesis set out in the order, during Rubiales’ presidency, the RFEF would have hired the aforementioned construction company “presumably in exchange” for it to make payments to Dismatec, managed by the former president’s friend, Nene. Between 2020 and 2022, the RFEF has declared payments to Gruconsa for 2.6 million euros, almost all of this in 2021.

Also in focus is the business activity of Martín Alcaide in Spain and the Dominican Republic, through which he “would try to hide the destination of the funds” that Dismatec would have received from Gruconsa, integrating Rubiales into his corporate framework, according to the judge. .
