Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his surprise and disappointment at the position of Joe Biden’s government regarding possible sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC), after recently requesting an arrest warrant against Netanyahu, which has provoked a series of reactions both nationally and internationally.

In an interview that will be published on Sunday on ‘The Morgan Ortagus Show’ on the Sirius XM radio network, Netanyahu criticized the new position of the White House, according to the newspaper Politico.

Netanyahu’s reaction comes after Homeland Security spokesman John Kirby reportedly said in a press conference that he opposed sanctions proposed by Republicans in Congress against the ICC.

The position contrasts with that of Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who last week called the ICC measure a “deeply wrong decision.”

Netanyahu defended his position and that of the Israeli authorities against the ICC’s accusations that they have intentionally prevented the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza in the same interview. He also claimed that Israel is introducing half a million tons of food and medicine into Gaza, thus providing 3,000 calories per person, almost 1,000 above the required standard.

Netanyahu’s comments come amid disagreements between Israel and the United States, which until now had been the biggest supporter for the Israeli government in the war against Hamas. Part of the criticism from the US government is due to the high number of civilian victims, which continue to increase due to the difficulties of guaranteeing access to humanitarian aid and Israel’s use of heavy weapons provided by the US.
