On July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson had an official boxing fight planned. However, this confrontation will have to wait, since it was recently reported that it would be suspended until a new date.
This was reported through a statement Most Valuable Pormotions promoter in charge of the event. The reason why the long-awaited fight will be suspended is due to the ulcer outbreak that Tyson had a couple of days ago.
Although he did not become older and Tyson himself stated that he was at 100%, the medical team suggested that he not expose himself to getting into the ring with Paul on the scheduled date.
The recommendation for the former world heavyweight champion is to do minimal or light training for the next few weeks and then return to full training without limitations.
Given this situation, Mike Tyson’s team preferred to suspend the fight on July 20 and schedule a new date later.
This request was answered by Jake Paul’s team. Those who had no problem agreeing to suspend the date of the fight.
“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, my doctor recommended that I lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said in the statement.
Mike Tyson had a long career as a boxer in which he fought 56 official fights. At just 20 years old he was already a world heavyweight champion and on June 30 he will turn 58, an age that is not a problem for Mike, since he considers that he is in excellent shape.
“My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will soon be returning to my full training program. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing forever. “I appreciate everyone’s patience and I can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year,” the legendary boxer said.
On the other hand, Jake Paul’s team also commented on the matter. Showing full support for Mike Tyson’s delicate situation. “I fully support postponing the event so that Mike Tyson has no excuses when fight night arrives,” said Jake Paul.
“My fans know that I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything less than his best, but make no mistake: when he gets in the ring with me, I’ll be ready to claim my victory with a sensational finish. Paul vs. “Tyson will be one forever and I promise to give my best in this once-in-a-lifetime confrontation,” the YouTuber and boxer closed in the statement.
