The success in the penalty shootout gave Al Hilal the victory against Al Nassr by Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the Saudi Arabia Cup (1-1) despite playing the final stretch and extra time with nine players.

The fight for the title between the two best teams in Saudi Arabia, the champion and the runner-up, ended with three being sent off. One from Al Nassr, the Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina at the beginning of the second half, and two from Al Hilal, in the final stretch of the match.

The Al Hilal of the Portuguese Jorge Jesús, who was champion of the Saudi League with authority, rounded off its season with the Cup despite having its star, the Brazilian Neymar, out for several months, who saw the final played at the King Abdullah Sports stadium City of Jeddah on the bench with the substitutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo ended up frustrated. He scored his penalty but ended up dejected due to the new setback suffered that left his team without a reward.

Al Hilal, with players like Bono, Kalidou Koulibali, Renan Lodi, Ruben Neves, Malcom and Aleksandr Mitrovic in their eleven, took the lead after seven minutes when Malcom’s cross into the area was headed by Mitrovic.

The situation looked better for Al Hilal to achieve its eleventh Cup title, the second in a row, when in the 56th minute, goalkeeper Ospina saw the red card when braking with his hand outside the area in a face-to-face encounter with Malcom.

He didn’t take advantage of it. He was left in the 87th minute with ten also due to the double yellow that Ali Al Bolehai saw and the next minute, Al Nassr tied.

It was on a long throw-in taken into the area by Ali Alawjami and headed in by Ayman Yahya.

Luis Castro’s Al Nassr, with Alex Telles, Otavio, Marcelo Brozovic, Sadio Mané and Cristiano Ronaldo, was aiming for the seventh title when his rival was left with nine. Koulibaly saw the second card and left the field.

Al Hilal faced the final minutes and extra time with nine men. He resisted and in the penalty shootout, after twelve shots, he achieved the victory, the Cup and the double.
