Businessman Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump will meet and broadcast the event live through the social network X.
This news was confirmed by Musk, who commented on an article from the New York Post about the meeting: “This is going to be interesting.”
The date of the meeting and whether there will be moderators present have not yet been revealed. But it was known that during the broadcast Donald Trump will answer questions sent live by users.
In addition, X plans to broadcast another similar event with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., independent candidate in the next United States presidential elections, scheduled for November.
The announcement comes a day after the former Republican president was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, related to payments to a porn actress to protect his presidential run in 2016.
With this verdict, Donald Trump was marked as the first former United States president to be found guilty in a criminal trial.
Donald Trump, controversy with X in the past
The conversation between Musk and Trump is significant since the former president’s account was suspended on X, formerly Twitter, after the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Musk revoked this suspension when he acquired the social network in 2022. However, the former president did not return to X until August 2023 and has not published anything since.
According to him Wall Street Journal, Quoted by the Efe news agency, Trump suggested to Musk that he offer him a position as an advisor if he wins the November elections. This position, still undefined, could be related to border security or the economy, topics of great interest to Musk.
The invitation to Trump is part of Musk’s strategy to focus the platform on the political sphere and attract new users. He Wall Street Journal also reported that X invited President Joe Biden to participate in a similar event, but the Democrat declined the offer.
The organization of this event has the collaboration of the cable television network NewsNationand it is expected that at least one of the moderators will be a presenter from this company.
