The New York Mets continue working to have the best possible performance in the current 2024 Major League season and for this reason they carried out an operation with the New York Yankees to acquire the services of Venezuelan catcher Luis Torrens, who was incorporated into the roster of 40 immediately and is expected to debut this Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The information was made known by SNY through social networks, where they announced that the Venezuelan big league had been added to the roster along with two other figures in the midst of movements to give a new look to the team.

Luis Torrens thus takes the place of also Venezuelan catcher Omar Narváez, who was placed on assignment by manager Carlos Mendoza for failing to maintain a good offensive rhythm in the midst of the crisis that the Big Apple team is experiencing due to the Francisco Álvarez injury.

The players who join the New York Mets roster for this Friday are the Cuban José Iglesias, Dedniel Núñez and the aforementioned Luis Torres; while the outgoing ones are Christian Scott, Brett Baty and Omar Narváez.

Throughout the 2024 season, Omar Narváez has a low batting average of .154 as a result of 10 hits, five RBIs and four runs scored in 65 at-bats that have left him with no aspirations in the Big League and now he can be taken for any team in the league.

For his part, Luis Torrens (for whom the Mets paid an amount of $100,000) will finally have his debut in the current Major League Baseball campaign as he has not been called up throughout the season by the Yankees; In the Minor Leagues he left an impressive .279 average with 31 hits, five home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
