Real Madrid won its fifteenth European Cup this Saturday after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0, but it immediately began its preparation for the 2024-2025 season and the first step was the confirmation that the team legend, Luka Modric, He will stay with the team for another year.
After the victory, statements from the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, confirmed Modric’s stay, putting an end to weeks of speculation about his future.
“Surely it will continue for another season, no one doubts that. “We are very happy and he is also very happy to be able to continue for another season, because he is one of the great legends that this club has,” stated the Madrid leader in the mixed zone of Wembley Stadium to Cadena Ser.
It is presumed that with the retirement of Toni Kroos, Modric’s stay will be focused on guiding and sponsoring the young talent in Real Madrid’s midfield, with names like Jude Bellingham, Arda Guller, Brahim Díaz, among others.
Similarly, Pérez also left the future of central defender Nacho Fernández up in the air, of whom he said that he earned his right to choose and that he will do what he wants.
“You have to ask him (Nacho about his future). We will be delighted (if he stays). He is the owner of his destiny and we will do what he wants,” assured the president of Real Madrid.
Both Modric and Nacho Fernández entered the history books after winning the sixth UEFA Champions League of their careers, as did Dani Carvajal, to equal Paco Gento as the players with the most European Cup titles.
