Miami – A shooting that occurred early this Sunday in Ohio, in the Midwest of the United States, left one person dead and at least 24 injured, confirmed the city’s mayor, Shammas Malik.
According to the mayor and local police, several officers responded to an intersection in the city, located about 40 miles south of Cleveland, shortly after midnight after receiving emergency calls related to shots fired in the area.
Almost at the same time that the troops arrived at the scene, where they found a firearm and several bullet casings, the authorities received notices from local hospitals that reported the admission of people with gunshot wounds.
According to local police, a total of 25 people were shot with a firearm, including the fatal victim. According to NBC News, the deceased is a 27-year-old man.
Spokespersons for the Summa Health System of Akron indicated that 15 people arrived at this hospital center, one of them already deceased and another in critical condition.
The authorities, who maintain an ongoing investigation, have not reported on the arrest of any suspect or on the possible motivations for the incident, and have asked anyone who may have relevant information to contact them.
