Champions League champion Real Madrid will face Europa League winner Atalanta in the 2024 European Super Cup. The match will be played on Wednesday, August 14 at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland.

This will be a historic match for both teams. For Real Madrid it will be the eighth European Super Cup, while for Atalanta it will be the first time they have played for this title.

The Italian team led by Gian Piero Gasperini won the UEFA Europa League final after beating Xabi Alonso’s seemingly invincible Bayer Leverkusen by a score of 3-0.

Real Madrid, the most successful team in the competition with five titles, entered the Super Cup after beating Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final by a score of 2-0.

Madrid is followed by Barcelona and Milan, with five each, and Liverpool, with four.

The 2024 European Super Cup will be played at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, marking the twelfth venue since the tournament left its traditional home in Monaco. Throughout its history, the Super Cup has visited various European cities, each with its own football history.

It will be the twelfth venue since the Super Cup was held after the Monaco era. It has previously been played in Prague (2013), Cardiff (2014), Tbilisi (2015), Trondheim (2016), Skopje (2017), Tallinn (2018), Istanbul (2019), Budapest (2020), Belfast (2021), Helsinki (2022) and Piraeus (2023).

It will be the ninth Super Cup played by Real Madrid, which leads the record with five titles along with Barcelona and Milan, and with one more than Liverpool. The white team has won in 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2022, and has lost in 1979, 1982, 1989 and 2006. For Atalanta it will be the first time.

Spain is the country that has won the most titles in the European Super Cup, with 16. England follows with 10, Italy with 9 and Germany with 2.

The match promises to be exciting and full of spectacle. Both teams have high quality players and attractive playing styles.
