Thousands of Mexicans living in the United States will be able to vote in person in several states of the country in their respective consulates, and 1,500 places were also opened for people who did not register to vote.

“Those who did not register, then they must arrive earlier to get in line and be able to vote because once the 1,500 are exhausted, no more people will be able to vote,” said Claudia Zabala Pérez, electoral advisor of the INE.

Likewise, in the state of California the polls are open from 7:00 in the morning and will close at 5:00 in the afternoon, you only need to bring identification.

“To exercise the vote, the citizen must have a valid credential, whether national or foreign. How can you know if your credential is valid? Well, here there is a field where it indicates the validity, those who cannot vote are when it says less than 2022,” said Alejandro Araiza Martínez, commissioner of the INE in San Francisco.

Upon arriving at any consulate, there will be two lines, one for those who registered to vote in person and one more for the 1,500 migrants who did not register, which is why the long lines grow longer as the morning passes.

Upon entering the consulate, the credential must be presented to exercise the right to vote. Once it is verified, the person will be able to go to the polls and finally choose their candidate.

The ballot boxes are digital and at the end of the election, you will have to return to the registration table where a finger will be marked with ink to indicate that you have already voted.

The INE commissioner pointed out that the 1,500 places are only for people who did not register to vote this year.

If a person is registered, but chose the option to vote online or mail the ballot, they will not be allowed to vote in person.
