President Joe Biden revealed that he spoke with Claudia Sheinbaum, president-elect in Mexico, to congratulate her on her electoral victory.

“I congratulate Claudia Sheinbaum on her historic election as the first President of Mexico,” Biden said.

In a statement, the president expressed his confidence in working in coordination with the woman who will be president of Mexico starting in October.

“I expressed our commitment to promoting the values ​​and interests of both nations for the benefit of our people,” he added. “I look forward to working closely with President-elect Sheinbaum.”

Biden and Sheinbaum will coincide in the same government period for at least three and a half months, since President Biden must compete for re-election and win on November 5, otherwise he would leave his position in January 2025.

The Democrat also congratulated Mexicans on the election that will renew thousands of positions in Mexico, including the federal Congress.

“I congratulate the Mexican people for carrying out a successful democratic electoral process at the national level, which included contests for more than 20,000 positions at the local, state and federal level,” he highlighted.
