The Dominican pitcher of the New York Yankees, Luis Gil, was awarded by the Major Leagues as part of the best players of the month of May for his outstanding performances.

Gil, who had a May of historic levels, was chosen as Pitcher and Rookie of the Month by the American League.

In his six starts in May, Gil pitched at least six innings allowing one run or less, tying him with Steve Kline (1972) for the longest streak of such games in Yankees history.

Additionally, he allowed only 14 hits in the month of May, which places him, among Yankees players who have thrown at least 30 innings in a month, as the pitcher who has allowed the fewest hits in a calendar month in the history of the franchise.

Additionally, Gil’s 0.70 ERA is the third-lowest in a calendar month for a starter in the history of the New York organization, trailing only Hiroki Kuroda (0.55 in July 2013) and David Cone (0.69 in July 2013). 1998).

Aaron Judge the best of the month in May

What Judge did in May went down in history, as “The Judge” became the first Yankees player to hit at least 14 home runs and 12 in a calendar month.

The slugger hit .361/.479/.918 with 27 RBIs in 28 games, reacting after a forgettable April. Now Judge has won a total of seven Player of the Month awards, including the last three Mays.

For his part, Bryce Harper swept the field in May, leading the National League with a .990 OPS while also leading the league in home runs (tied for first with seven) and RBIs (24). It is the first time Harper has been Player of the Month since April 2016, and the third time overall.
