The ruling party Claudia Sheinbaum will be the first female president of Mexico after obtaining between 58.3% and 60.7% of the votes in the elections held on Sunday, June 2, according to the quick count of the National Electoral Institute (INE), in front within a range of between 26.6% and 28.6% of her main rival, the opposition Xóchitl Gálvez.

After resuming the count, Guadalupe Taddei, president of the INE, gave a message to the entire country to express the results, thus making Claudia Sheinbaum, who has already been congratulated by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the next president so far.

“I want to emphasize that these results are preliminary, just like those that are being disseminated through the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP) and are subject to confirmation of the district counts that will begin next Wednesday, June 5,” clarified the owner. of the INE.
Sheinbaum will take the place of AMLO, who, despite criticism of some of his policies by different sectors, enjoys an acceptance rate among the population of more than 60%.
After 200 years, Sheinbaum will be the first woman to lead Mexico: “we all arrived as our heroines,” she said during a thank-you speech, after learning the results.
Before the results, some leaders from Costa Rica, Honduras, Colombia and Guatemala congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum.
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo was born in Mexico City on June 24, 1962, she studied Physics at the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), she is the founder of the MORENA political party, and she was head of government from 2018 to 2023.
