President Joe Biden once again referred to foreign interference in the United States presidential elections, ensuring that there is evidence that China is interfering and that “all the bad guys” support the candidacy of former President Donald Trump.

“There is evidence that meddling is taking place,” Biden told Time magazine in an interview published Tuesday, declining to go into further detail.

When the journalist commented that it seemed like China was interfering, the US president responded that China “would have an interest in meddling.” And he added: “Everyone, all the bad guys, is supporting Trump, man. It is not a joke”.

In the interview, Biden assures that he commonly tells foreign leaders that it is important for him to win re-election to protect democracy in the United States and the world.

“My democracy and theirs are at stake. My democracy is at stake. And then name me a world leader other than Orban and Putin who thinks Trump should be the world leader in the United States of America,” Biden told Time.

This is not the first time the Biden administration has referred to Chinese electoral interference in the US elections this year. In April, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said there were signs that Beijing was trying to influence and potentially interfere in the upcoming US election.

Likewise, Biden himself reportedly told Chinese President Xi Jinping last November not to interfere in the 2024 elections, according to CNN.

The shadow of foreign electoral interference has haunted the elections since 2016, when federal officials concluded that Russia interfered in those elections between Trump and then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Likewise, in 2021 the National Intelligence Council published a report revealing that Russia sought to harm Biden’s candidacy in the 2020 elections; and that Iran sought to sow division and undermine Trump’s prospects.
