The Dominican pitcher of the New York Yankees, Luis Gil, continues his campaign worthy of both Rookie of the Year and Cy Young after this Tuesday he added a new quality start during his team’s 5-1 victory against the Minnesota Twins at the Yankee Stadium.

Gil showed signs of his – now usual – dominance against his former team in a performance that was necessary to dominate the Twins offense, which he left with just one hit in six innings, six fanned and without allowing runs.

However, what was most striking was the record he established that had not been seen in more than 120 years of Major League Baseball.

Luis Gil continued his run of DOMINANCE tonight against Minnesota🔥

After his departure this Monday, Gil became the first pitcher since 1901 to put together a streak of at least seven games where he has only allowed, by commitment, five hits or less and one run or less.

Thanks to his performance, Gil remains one of the most solid pitchers in the American League, achieving his seventh victory to leave his record at 7-1, with a 1.82 earned run percentage in 69.1 innings and 85 strikeouts.

Gil’s work was also supported by a pair of dantesque home runs by Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton, while a double by Aaron Judge drove in two runs.

In this way, the Yankees established themselves as the best team in the Major Leagues by achieving their 43rd victory of the season, accumulating only 19 defeats.
