Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, recent signing of Real Madrid, spoke openly about his feelings and experiences after leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). In his first public appearance with the Madrid team, the forward shared the challenges and tensions experienced in Paris.
“There were things that made me unhappy, but they couldn’t be shown because I was a leader and you don’t follow someone who is depressed,” said Mbappé in a press conference reported by EFE.
With his usual firmness, Mbappé also criticized the PSG board, especially president Nasser Al-Khelaifi: “I have played much less this end of the season and everyone knows why,” he commented.
The forward revealed a personal episode of the conflict: “They told me violently to my face that I would not play this season. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. Without them I would not have stepped onto the playing field again. That’s the truth”.
These statements by Mbappé, made before the press at the Stade Saint-Symphorien, the concentration camp of the French team, provoked immediate reactions from PSG. According to the AFP agency, sources close to the club harshly criticized Mbappé: “he has absolutely no class,” they responded from the Parisian entity.
“Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has never dictated the slightest decision to the team. Luis Enrique even said it himself, but, despite everything, Mbappé says something and everyone assumes it as if it were true,” they commented from PSG.
In Europe, PSG is expected to offer a more detailed version of the events in the near future: “In due time everything, the whole truth, will be revealed,” they assured from the club, suggesting that there are still aspects to be clarified about the departure of Mbappé and his transition to Real Madrid.
This verbal confrontation adds to other disagreements, especially related to the economic situation of Mbappé’s departure from PSG. According to L’Équipe, the club has not yet paid the salaries corresponding to April, May and possibly June, generating more tension in a chapter that seemed resolved with his signing for Real Madrid.
