Trader Joe’s is in the news because it put on sale a new mini insulated bag that is selling out quickly and is even already up for resale on sites like eBay and Facebook Marketplace.

Nakia Rohde, a spokesperson for Trader Joe’s, told USA Today that the new insulated mini tote comes in various colors such as teal and deep magenta, and that it is useful and practical, ideal for carrying cold snacks or six-packs of ice cream on the go. beach, a pool party or a barbecue.

It’s not certain how many mini insulated containers resellers have purchased, but the bags are currently listed on resale sites for between $20 and $89.99, down from their original price of $2.99.

Given the high demand for this new product and how quickly they are running out, Rohde said that the chain hopes to have “more available this summer,” while highlighting that they will do everything possible to stop the reselling practice.

In a previous statement, the company had said: “When we open our businesses every day, we focus on our customers: people for whom shopping at Trader Joe’s is a personal matter, finding food and drink for their own use and to share with others. family and friends. For this reason, we only sell our products in our physical stores.”

With these goals in mind, the retailer made it clear that it does not endorse the resale of its items anywhere.

Last March, Trader Joe’s went through a similar situation with the sale of Trader Joe’s mini bags, which sold out quickly and resellers took advantage of the moment to profit from the item, who sold the lunch boxes for up to $80 dollars when their original value was about $3.99 dollars.

That’s when the company said in a statement: “To be clear, we do not condone or support the resale of our products and we do everything we can to stop this practice.”

Trader Joe’s pointed out that customers remain a priority so they will continue to “offer high quality products at exceptional prices.”
