Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, was arrested in New York after a high-speed chase on suspicion of killing three roommates in Virginia.

According to the Spotsylvania County (Virginia) Sheriff’s Office, the triple homicide happened on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Robert John McGuire, 77; Gregory Scott Powell (60) and Carol Anne Reese (65).

New York State Police (NYSP) spotted a gray 2009 Honda Civic matching the description of the suspect’s car on Interstate 86 around 5:45 p.m. Thursday and attempted to stop it. But the driver led a chase that reached 100 mph, he reported. NBC News.

Police used a “tire deflation device” to crash the car and Venable was taken into custody in New York’s Steuben County. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation, but it was not reported if she was injured.

The homicide victims were found around 10 p.m. Tuesday after officers were called to a welfare check at their home in the 10500 block of White Street Court in Spotsylvania. All three victims had suffered upper body trauma, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Venable faces three counts of murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The motive for the crime is not clear. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

In a similar case, in April the suspect Nicholas McGee was extradited to New York, a prisoner who confessed in a Virginia jail to having killed his roommate Kawsheen Gelzer in 2022 and then cutting up and storing the body in the refrigerator of an apartment in Brooklyn ( NYC).

Also that month, Kenol Baptiste was accused of stabbing to death his countryman roommates from Haiti in Middletown (NY) while he was awaiting a deportation hearing.

In February Phill Cayenne was found dead with bruises on his neck inside his apartment in Brooklyn (NYC) and his roommate was taken into police custody.
