Itatí Cantoral fondly remembers the last moments she shared with her mother, the conversations they had and the good times they had together over the years. Although she is still sorry for her departure, the actress consoles herself by remembering the love and joy that her mother transmitted at every moment.
“(She also had) Alzheimer’s, with me she was very lucid until God took her away. She didn’t get that Alzheimer’s from not knowing me, for example, or her grandchildren, no. But my brother… it was a very strange thing, in a month he collapsed and then he got Covid,” he said during a conversation with Pati Chapoy.
“At that time you remember that you had to change and you had to disinfect, I didn’t enter the room or say hello, she had her nurses. Of course, my dad always left her very well cared for,” she told ‘Ventaneando’.
“I was oxygenating at 60. I spoke to the doctor and told him: ‘My mother is oxygenating at 60, I think she has Covid.’ She tells me (the doctor): ‘Bring her to the hospital.’ I don’t know how I got her down the stairs, into my car, put her seat belt on. They told me: ‘There are no beds anywhere’… I thought she was going to free her,” she added.
Despite the pain and sadness that the loss of his mother caused him, Cantoral affirms that love and shared memories are a balm that helps him move forward. With courage and strength, the actress has been able to find the light in the midst of darkness, always remembering the unconditional love and unwavering support that her mother gave her throughout her life.
“In the morning the Covid ambulance arrives and they get a bed in Interlomas for her and after two intubations we were able to see all her children, all her grandchildren. Obviously, I stayed with her, I talked to her, a little tear came out, I swear she heard me. I honestly wanted to continue seeing her, I was very happy to see her, I said: ‘She’s going to get better,’” she expressed.
