Unpublished images were seen during the 2024 European Athletics Championships, in the walking modality, when the Spanish runner Laura García-Caro lost her entire medal opportunity thanks to her early celebration at the finish line.

Right at the end of the 20-kilometer march-type race and with the winner and second place defined, the only thing left to do was to know who would take the bronze medal, which it seemed that García-Caro would have no problem winning.

In fact, the Iberian was so confident of her podium that she began to look around and celebrate with a Spanish flag tied around her neck without realizing that the Ukrainian Lyudmila Olyanovska was coming at full speed to take her place.

The outcome was priceless when García-Caro saw Olyanovska pass by seconds before the finish line while raising her arm in celebration, leaving her without any prize and with a lesson that will be difficult to forget.

The shot went viral on social media this Saturday, generating memes and more, and although many debated García-Caro’s ruling, others criticized that both she and Olyanovska had their feet off the floor, which is considered a fault in the discipline. which does not allow running, although none were judged by the governing authorities of the event.
