The Mexican driver of the Red Bull team, Sergio “Checo” Pérez, spoke this Sunday about his abandonment in the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix and believes that it is time to try to learn more about the vehicle to understand the results of the last two races.

In statements after the competition, Checo Pérez assured that it is necessary to “understand what the car has been like in the last few races,” and that will be key to returning the successes that had been seen during the first circuits of the year.

“Cars behave under a very thin edge and it is important to understand them,” said Tapatío, who was also forced to abandon in Monaco.

Checo Pérez, who was left off the track in Canada after breaking his rear wing, stated that the contact he had at the start with the Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpine) conditioned his race, because he was left with a damaged wing and when they changed it After the first ‘stint’ they were better: “But it was very difficult to overtake,” he stressed.

“You had to take a lot of risk and, when I was reaching Ricciardo, I made a mistake in turn six and couldn’t stop the car. “I was one of those who, in difficult conditions like today, unfortunately made mistakes,” the Mexican concluded.

Despite his retirement, Checo Pérez remained in fifth place in the Drivers’ World Championship with 107 points, behind Carlos Sainz (4th, 108 points), Lando Norris (3rd, 131), Charles Leclerc (2nd, 138) and his teammate Max Verstappen (1st, 194).
