Chet Walker, NBA champion with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1967 and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, died at the age of 84, according to the NBA Retired Players Association.
Known as “The Jet,” Walker was a standout player for 13 seasons in the NBA, where he averaged 18.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Throughout his career, he played in 7 All-Star Games and was a key player in the Sixers’ title in 1967.
Walker played for three teams: Syracuse Nationals, Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls. His impact on the world of basketball was recognized by both teams.
“Walker left a profound impact on our city and our league,” the Sixers said on social network X.
On the other hand, the Bulls remembered him as “a legendary figure” and “a true icon” of the Chicago franchise.
Beyond his statistics, Walker was known for his work ethic, tenacity and sportsmanship. He is considered one of the best players of his era and an inspiring figure for generations to come.
