Since actors Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) took over the club in February 2021, with an investment of $2.5 million, Wrexham has seen a remarkable transformation.

The Welsh soccer team consolidated its second consecutive promotion, reaching League One, corresponding to the Third Division in England; that is, only two steps behind the Premier.

With this jump in level, in the next season they will face traditional teams such as Reading, Charlton, Bristol Rovers, Wigan or Blackpool, among others.

Everything, with the screen and the popularity that the documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” gave it, which tells the stories behind the local team, the revolution generated by its famous owners, and the growth of the club, which does not stop adding adepts.

However, football artists and managers are pushing to take this sports/reality adventure to another level, which Reynolds has come to describe as a “infernal trip” or “legal poison.”

As? Betting on hiring a world star, with a past at Real Madrid, who is retired: none other than Gareth Bale, 34 years old. To do this, they made him an offer that the European press described as “irrefutable.”

The Welshman hung up his boots after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he represented his country. “I made the invitation last year and I will simply tell Gareth that the offer is still on the table. We’ll let him play golf whenever he wants. As long as he comes to train… and then we will think about how to incorporate him into the team,” surprised McElhenney, co-owner of the team.

“I’m not going to spend four hours trying to convince you to leave retirement for one last magical season, but it seems like the conversation is different now,” he added, almost speaking directly to the focus of his proposal. “If you come to train once or twice a week, we can find a way for you to spend 10 minutes on the court,” she concluded.
