The iconic Carnegie Hall in New York is preparing to recognize the importance of Latin music and its influence in the United States. They will do this through the Nuestros Sonidos Festival, a special program that can be enjoyed during 2024 and 2025.
They have recently confirmed the addition to the programming of the Puerto Rican singer Ivy Queen, the Colombian band Monsieur Periné and the Mexican group Grupo Niche. These new artists will be presented on November 20, 2024, February 22, 2025 and April 17, 2025, respectively.
It should be noted that this will be the first time of the three musical projects at Carnegie Hall.
The Nuestros Sonidos Festival will officially premiere on October 8 of this year. For the grand opening ceremony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra will perform, under the direction of Venezuelan Gustavo Dudamel.
In addition to the opening date, the orchestra will be performing on October 9 and 10. Each day they will have a different artist invited, with the Mexican Natalia Lafourcade being the guest of the night on Thursday, October 10.
For the programming of the Nuestros Sonidos Festival, “Carnegie Hall invited a Curatorial Council of four experts in Latin music to share their passion and knowledge, which worked with the Hall’s programming team to create this extraordinary celebration.”
This project also aims to leave the iconic Carnegie Hall to promote Latin music in other cultural centers in New York. The festival organization plans for this to begin during the spring of next year. They even want to offer programming that includes other artistic expressions such as dance, visual arts and cinema.
