Walmart is closing several of its stores across the United States, affecting both customers and employees.

These measures have been taken because several of the branches have not met the profits expected by the company.

Dunwoody and Marietta, Georgia

For the month of July, two additional closures have been confirmed in the metro Atlanta area.

The store in Dunwoody, located at 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd., and the one in Marietta, at 3101 Roswell Rd., will close on July 12.

These closures will affect a total of 400 employees, who will receive their salaries until September 20 and will have the option to transfer or receive compensation.

Dunwoody resident Shelly Jacobs expressed her displeasure: “The prices on everything were better than any other store in the area.”

Other closures already carried out

Walmart has already closed several of its stores throughout the United States during the first months of 2024.

San Diego and El Cajon, California

On February 9, two stores in California closed their doors. One of them was located at 2121 Imperial Ave. in San Diego, in the Logan Heights neighborhood, while the other was at 605 Fletcher Pkwy in El Cajon.

Columbus, Ohio

In Columbus, Ohio, the store at 3579 S. High St. closed on February 16. Walmart explained that these decisions were made because the stores did not meet performance expectations.

West Covina, California

Another closure occurred in West Covina, California, on March 29. The store at 2753 E. Eastland Center Dr. closed after Walmart conducted a review process and determined that the store was not performing financially as expected.

All 237 employees at this location were eligible to move to other nearby stores.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Aurora, Colorado
