The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported that the Grande Cheese Company of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, is recalling 1,726,910 pounds of whey and dairy products due to possible salmonella contamination. The products were distributed in 23 states in the United States, Canada, Ecuador and Japan.

These are 10 types of products that were distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio , Pennsylvania, South Dakota. Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.

Know the products withdrawn from the market

The Grande Cheese Company began the recalls on May 1, and continues, after detecting the risk of salmonella contamination in the products.

The products subject to recall are the following: Grande Lactose (product codes 30600 and 30601), Grande Bravo 250 Functional Whey Protein (32101), Grande Bravo 300 Functional Whey Protein (32102), Grande Bravo 500 Functional Whey Protein (32103), and Grande Bravo Functional Whey Protein 550 (32105).

They are also recalling Grande Bravo 600 Functional Whey Protein (32106), Grande Ultra 8000 Nutritional Whey Protein Isolate (32200), Grande Ultra 9100 Nutritional Whey Protein Isolate (32131), Grande Ultra 9150 Nutritional Whey Protein Isolate ( 32324) and Grande Primo Y45 cultured dairy product (32400).

Symptoms of Salmonella infection

Health authorities recommend that consumers discard or return products subject to recall. While people who have consumed it should seek medical attention if they present symptoms of salmonella infection.

It is important to take into account that the detection of salmonella infection is done through medical tests, since the symptoms resemble those of other diseases, since diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, among others, occur.

Symptoms begin to be felt between 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food. People at highest risk for salmonella infection are older adults, children, pregnant women, and people with weak immune systems.
