Washington – The majority of United States citizens, including those of Latino origin, support a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, according to a survey by the YouGov firm for CBS News.

The survey reveals that 62% of Americans are in favor of this measure, while 38% are opposed.

Among Latinos, 53% would support mass deportation, while 47% say they are against it. Among whites, support rises to 67% with 33% opposed, while African Americans are the only demographic group that, with a margin of 47%-53%, opposes the measure.

The survey was conducted between June 5 and 7 among 1,615 registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.8 points.

The former president and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump (2017 – 2021), has promised in the campaign to carry out the “largest deportation” of migrants in the history of the country if he returns to power after the elections on November 5.

Meanwhile, this Tuesday, Joe Biden’s Government announced a plan that will regularize more than half a million migrants living in the country without legal status, mainly benefiting people married to US citizens.
