Stephen Miller, a well-known ideologue of immigration policy during the presidency of Donald Trump, attacked the migrant regularization plan announced by President Joe Biden, calling it a “colossal amnesty.”

“This is a colossal amnesty and a thunderous attack against American democracy in the form of an imperial edict,” Miller declared, according to the EFE news agency.

The recent White House order seeks to regularize approximately half a million undocumented immigrants married to US citizens or who have children in families with an undocumented spouse.

This criticism aligns with his previous positions, where he has been harsh against any measure that makes life easier for undocumented immigrants in the country. In fact, Trump’s former advisor was the one who came up with controversial measures such as the Muslim ban and attempts to end the DACA program.

Miller interpreted Biden’s move as a surrender to what he describes as a “deadly border invasion” and accused the Democratic president of allowing the entry of undocumented immigrants who he says are involved in serious crimes.

“Biden has issued one of the largest executive amnesties in United States history in the midst of a deadly border invasion and surrendered to illegal aliens who have been accepted into the country by Biden despite being accused of the most despicable murders of children and mothers and rape,” Miller said.

Manipulate the political system

The former advisor to the Republican president also denounced the regularization measure as an attempt to manipulate the American political system.

He argued that regularized immigrants could become voters who would favor the Democratic Party, which he sees as an attempt to create a loyal electoral bloc through what he called “diploma mills that vomit out useless degrees to create citizens.”

Through his organization, America First Legal, Miller has promised to challenge Biden’s executive order in court, according to EFE. This organization, known for its tough stance against immigration, is preparing to file a lawsuit with the intention of blocking the implementation of the measure.

The Trump campaign was not far behind in its criticism. Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt described the regularization as a “mass amnesty” and warned about the possible negative consequences that, according to her, the measure will bring.

“The mass amnesty plan will undoubtedly lead to an increase in immigrant crime, cost taxpayers millions of dollars that they cannot afford, collapse public services, steal from the Social Security system and the Medicare benefits of our seniors to “finance benefits to illegals,” said spokesperson Karoline Leavitt.
