Just over 48 hours before the debut of the Mexican team in the 2024 Copa América against Jamaica, several players decided to go eat birria tacos on a street in the United States.

The video went viral on social networks and you can see figures such as Alexis Vega, Jorge Sánchez, Uriel Antuna, Carlos Acevedo, Santiago Giménez, Gerardo Arteaga, Piojo Alvarado, Marcelo Flores.

The players are seen on a street in San Diego enjoying a street stall called “Sabor a Birria.” Clearly, the fact did not go unnoticed and generated hundreds of reactions from fans.

“No mom*. Antuna seems like the guy who runs the stall”; “They wouldn’t even make it through the group stage”; “This team doesn’t even beat Barbados”; “Jamaica is cooking for us,” were some comments in X.

Bad moment for the Mexican team

Those led by Jaime Lozano are not going through a good football moment. Firstly because of the way the game has been developed. Furthermore, the results have not been good and in their last three games they have only achieved one victory with three goals in favor and seven against.

A narrow victory against Bolivia, a 0-4 win against Uruguay and a 2-3 defeat against Brazil. Added to all this is the generational change that the coach is promoting. Leaving out figures like Guillermo Ochoa, Héctor Herrera or Hirving Chucky Lozano.
