The president of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), Alejandro Domínguez, said this Thursday that the Copa América Football that begins in Atlanta, will give way to the “best football in the world.”

From the pitch of the Mercedes Benz Stadium, venue of the inauguration, and with the Puma Cumbre, the official ball of the tournament, in hand, Domínguez sent a message through social networks in which he assured that a Cup is beginning which “promises to be very competitive”, with the best players in the world.

“I present the ball to you today. Conmebol 2024 begins at the Atlanta stadium, the match between Argentina and Canada, Canada and Argentina, the oldest national team competition in the world. Sixteen teams that come here to seek to be the new king of America. A Copa América that promises to be very competitive and therefore to have the best players in the world and with so much competitiveness we are going to see the best football in the world,” he assured.

The Paraguayan leader also highlighted the wide dissemination that the Cup will have. “I invite everyone to follow from wherever they are, because more than 190 countries are going to broadcast it live. Enjoy this Copa América, have fun and join us, because from now until July 14 there will be many surprises and for me the favorite: may the ball win,” he added.

Domínguez highlighted the competitiveness of the Copa América

The president of Conmebol, who confirmed that there are already more than a million tickets sold, raised the voltage of the American competition and assured: “This Copa América will be the most competitive in history.” He also predicted: “If someone asks me which team is the favorite, I couldn’t say which one because it will be an extremely competitive Cup. “Expect very high tension matches.”

In addition, he pointed out that “the Confederation in the world that reinvests the most its income. 95% of what is collected is reinvested. The remaining 5% is to pay the corresponding taxes.”

Domínguez said that “last December there were 59 teams on the continent that were reinvesting in their stadiums, in the playing fields, in comfort, in security, because we want to have good football, to play better ball. “We want the fans’ experience to change when they have the opportunity to go to a game.”

“There are five in Brazil, plus the three from Argentina and the two from Uruguay… Although there are two others that still… We are giving the Europeans that chance to have two more, because if not it will be very easy,” Domínguez highlighted, in relation to the number of World Cups that the continent has in comparison to those that Europe has.
