The Copa América 2024 has already begun and the 16 participating teams will seek to lift the oldest trophy on the continent on July 15. Day on which the grand final will take place in the city of Miami.

Everyone has their favorites to win this prestigious tournament and one of those who recently took the risk of naming their candidate for champion was the Mexican Formula 1 driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez.

The Red Bull team driver participated in a dynamic on the team’s official social networks and was asked about his candidate to win the Copa América and the Mexican did not hesitate to respond.

For Pérez, the winner of the continental competition will be Argentina. Who is defending his title obtained in 2021 against Brazil at the Maracaná.

This response from Pérez regarding his favorite to win the cup is a bit surprising. Especially since his native country, Mexico, is also participating in the competition and is in group B along with Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica.

Verstappen also gave his favorite

In the Red Bull dynamic, which was posted on their social networks, the Dutchman Max Verstappen was also consulted about his favorite to win the 2024 Copa América.

The young 26-year-old driver was clear about his candidate and named the five-time champion Brazil as the favorite to win the tournament with a wide smile on his face.

Brazil, for its part, which has just won the Copa América at home in 2019, is in group D along with Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica. The Canarinha will debut in the tournament next Monday, June 24 against the Central American team.
