The New York Giants American football franchise commemorated its centennial with an evening full of legends, paying tribute to its rich history and lighting the flame of the 2024 season, which will mark a historic milestone.
According to EFE, the emblematic Madison Square Garden in New York hosted the gala, where dozens of legendary figures who have forged the greatness of the Giants gathered. Among them, the names of former coaches such as Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin, architects of the triumphs in Super Bowls XXI and XXV, and XLII and XLVI, respectively, shone.
The quarterbacks who led the team to glory in those four Super Bowls were also present. Phil Simms, who led the Giants to their first two victories, and Eli Manning, the architect of the two most recent, shared their experiences and emotions with the crowd.
Legends such as Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson and Michael Strahan, members of the NFL Hall of Fame, relived through images and anecdotes the moments that forged the greatness of the franchise. Tiki Barber, leading rusher in team history with 10,449 yards, also joined the celebration.
Eli Manning, the only quarterback in NFL history to have defeated the New England Patriots led by Tom Brady on two occasions (Super Bowls XLII and XLVI), considered the best player in the league, expressed his deep emotion at being part of this historic night.
Lawrence Taylor, leader of the defense in the Giants’ first two Super Bowls, expressed his pride in the legacy he has left on the franchise.
John Mara, president and co-owner of the Giants, took the floor to thank the loyal fans for their unconditional support throughout these 100 years. “There are no better fans in all of sports than Giants fans,” he said with conviction.
The evening culminated with an exhibit that included helmets, uniforms and busts of NFL Hall of Famers who have worn the Giants jersey.
