Actor Donald Sutherland not only focused on his film projects, he also invested time in designing and improving his lifestyle. An example of this is the house in Santa Monica, California, that he designed and built from scratch.
On June 20, the death of the actor was confirmed at the age of 89. This news has caused various media and fans to remember the actor’s best roles throughout his career and has also remembered the house that he designed and in which he lived for 30 years.
This property that is being talked about entered the real estate market in January of this year for $3.67 million dollars. It was never reported if the sale went through, so it will likely return to the market soon for a lower price. At the time it was said that it was also available to rent for $12,500 per month.
Sutherland built this waterfront property in the 1980s, and lived there for the next 30 years. In 2012 he sold the place and moved to another location. The identity of the current owner is unknown.
In the promotion of the sale of the residence, it was highlighted that the place remains the same as the design that the actor made several decades ago, even the built-in furniture inside is maintained.
The house has an area of 1,484 square feet distributed in bedrooms, bathrooms, foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and other amenities.
Of the interior, mention must be made of the gas fireplace, vaulted ceilings, large windows, sliding doors, hardwood floors and more. One of the features that also remains from the original design are some security elements that the actor installed to prevent paparazzi and other curious people from seeing the interior.
Outside there is a terrace ideal for sitting and contemplating the landscape, although the best part is the direct access to the beach.
