The Uruguayan coach in charge of the Peruvian team, Jorge Fossati, warned of the excessive force with which the Canadian team could play, with which it will face tomorrow in a Copa América match, and warned that the Peruvian players will not shy away from the shock.

“It seems to me that at some point, in the match against Argentina, he was on that very fine line, between force and violence,” Fossati stated in a press conference.

“A couple of players from Canada could have been left out,” added the Peru coach, ensuring that there was too much referee permissiveness.

Fossati recalled that “football has its rules and we must comply with them,” but he also said that his players will not be left behind if the match becomes aggressive: “If this is a blow, it will be a blow, we are not going to shy away from it either.” .

“If the game turns out that way it will be a matter of struggling, but no one is going to beat us,” said the Peruvian coach.

Beyond the aggressiveness, of tomorrow’s rival Fossati highlighted that Canada is “a physical team, a strong, fast, dynamic team, with quick transitions as a strength and with arrival on the wings as another of its important strengths.”

Fossati waits for Luis Advíncula

At the press conference he also referred to Luis Advíncula, who retired with discomfort in his right Achilles tendon from the previous match against Chile last Friday, but whom Fossati did not want to give up.

“On Friday he went out because he was very sore. On Saturday he was a little better, on Sunday a little better, yesterday he could be seen walking with practically no difficulty. So we’ll see how he is today. For now there is no one ruled out,” he assured.

In any case, the Peruvian coach said that the Peruvian team cannot “depend on any player.”

“Who is going to deny the importance of Avdíncula for the Peruvian team? But if Advíncula is not there, someone else will play and the team has to function the same,” he assured.

Peru’s general director of football, Juan Carlos Oblitas, already announced yesterday that the captain’s presence against Canada was unlikely, although he was confident that he could play against Argentina next Saturday.

Peru and Canada will meet at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City (United States), the home of Sporting Kansas City of the MLS, in a match on the second day of group A of the Copa América.
