The technical director of the Argentine National Team, Lionel Scaloni, once again touched on the controversy surrounding French forward Kylian Mbappé and his statements in which he affirms that the Euro Cup is better than the Copa América, explaining that South America has a total of 10 soccer World Cups. .

At a press conference this Monday, as a preview of the duel that Argentina will have this Tuesday against Chile for matchday 2 of the Copa América, Scaloni touched on several topics of interest but stopped to explain once again that although they are opinions, there is no reason of comparison because in his opinion it is in the World Cup where the best teams are.

“They are opinions. The reality is that one or the other cannot be more important when the best are not there. In other words, if we combine world titles with those that are not in the Euro Cup, the South Americans are there, I don’t know how many there are, really, Brazil has five, there are ten in total (Argentina 3 and Uruguay 2),” he indicated.

The comments of Mbappé, world champion in Russia 2018, have shaken the world to such an extent that even the forward of the Brazilian team, Raphinha, spoke about the case and mocked the new Real Madrid attacker, remembering that France lost the final of the world in Qatar 2022 precisely against a South American team (Argentina).

Later Scaloni recalled that the level of the teams in South America is high, especially in the Conmebol qualifiers and classified Colombia, Ecuador and Paraguay as great national teams of great football.

“Colombia is a power at the football level, Ecuador is very good, Paraguay every time it goes to the World Cup it puts everyone in difficulty but they are opinions and we must respect them,” he added.

Finally, he recalled that whenever the South Americans go to the World Cup, they not only achieve qualification but also encourage the event by reaching key phases and winning matches.

“It is evident that beyond everything that is said, there are teams that when they go to the World Cup they not only cheer, but also win. And Chile too. Chile does very well every time it goes to the World Cup. “They are selections that I would not dare to say are not the best,” he concluded.

During the press conference, Scaloni also mentioned the issue of the state of the playing fields in the Copa América in the United States and also explained that his team is ready for a “hostile environment” in matches like the one they will have against Chile.
