The Chattanooga Police Department reported the death of a man by his own hand, after being a threat by entering an office building near a shopping center in the city armed. According to the authorities, they commented that the subject was trying to execute a plan that apparently failed.

Chattanooga Police Officer Victor Miller held a conference at the scene to provide information regarding the threat from a possible gunman who was in an office building at the Hamilton Place Mall around 3:00 a.m.: 00 pm

“A shooter was inside the building and was trying to execute a plan. That failed,” said spokesman Victor Miller.

The plan failed

The incident took place this Monday, June 24, when the man was trying to execute a plan that ultimately failed, but represented a threat to the community. Businesses in the area were closed while authorities responded to the situation.

“We have control of the scene, several agencies are on the scene,” they wrote on their networks to inform the population.

“He shoot himself”

Officer Miller said during the conference that everything indicates that the suspect shot himself and was pronounced dead at the scene. “We found out that he shot himself and died,” he confirmed.

No other person was injured, although they stated that the investigation is ongoing and it appears that no other shots were fired.

Officer Miller did not provide further details about the gunman’s plan, nor did they reveal his identity, as the case is under investigation.
