The controversial story between the Chilean team and Argentina had a new chapter this Tuesday during the clash between the two for the second day of Group A in the Copa América when a possible foul on the Chilean Víctor Dávila was not sanctioned as a penalty.

Just after five minutes an overflow by the right back Mauricio Isla ended with a good cross that the winger Dávila tried to find, but at the moment of the jump he collided with the Albiceleste central defender Cristian “Cuti” Romero.

At first it seemed like an inconsequential play, but in the replay you can see how Cuti Romero extends his arm over the face and neck of Dávila who immediately fell on the field of play, requiring medical assistance.

After the play, the entire Chilean team went after the main referee Andrés Matonte but the play was not even consulted with the match’s VAR.

On social networks, there were many who compared the action of Cuti Romero and Dávila with the penalty that was sanctioned in favor of Argentina during the Qatar 2022 World Cup in the clash against Poland, when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny hit the face with the tips of his fingers of Lionel Messi to sentence the charge from the 11 steps.
