A Michigan man had an incredibly lucky week when he won a $6 million lottery ticket prize, the second he has purchased this year. The lucky winner, a 32-year-old man from Wayne County who preferred to remain anonymous, took home the “500X Money Maker” instant game jackpot.
The Michigan Lottery said the winning ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven, located on South Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township, about 23 miles north of Detroit. The man, who plays the lottery only “from time to time,” chose this particular ticket because it was number 14, a lucky number for both him and his wife.
The winner told Lottery officials how he felt when he discovered his million-dollar prize. “I scratched the ticket and when I saw I had won $6 million, I started hyperventilating!” he said excitedly.
“I had to take the day off because I was in shock. I texted my wife and said, ‘Lucky number 14.’ She jokingly replied: ‘What do you mean? Are we millionaires?’ As soon as I got home, I told him the big news! ”She added.
The man decided to receive the prize as a one-time payment of approximately $4.1 million. With this money, he has well-defined plans that include investments, helping his family, and starting his own business. “This award changes our lives,” mentioned the winner. “We want to make sure we do things right and make the most of this opportunity,” he said.
Meanwhile, the 7-Eleven on South Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township has become a hotspot for residents and lottery players, since this winning ticket was sold there.
