Former president and virtual candidate Donald Trump challenged President Joe Biden to undergo a drug test before the first presidential debate, scheduled for this Thursday, June 27.

“A drug test for corrupt Joe Biden??? “I would also accept one immediately!!!”, wrote the former president on his Truth Social platform.

This is the second time in the last week that Trump has suggested that Biden will take some type of drugs before the presidential debate. On Saturday, during a campaign event in Philadelphia, he said the president would get “a shot in the butt.”

“Then, a little bit before debate time, he gets a shot in the butt and that’s… they want to strengthen him. So he comes out, he comes out, okay. I say he will come out very encouraged, right? ”Trump said, applauded by his followers.

Republicans join the petition

But these insinuations have not only been made by the New York magnate, but have spread throughout the Republican Party.

Ronny Jackson, a Republican representative and former White House doctor, said Sunday that Biden should undergo drug testing before and after the debate.

“I am going to demand on behalf of many millions of concerned Americans right now that you submit to a drug test before and after this debate, specifically looking for performance-enhancing drugs,” Jackson said in an interview with Fox News.

The Republican congressman also made the request through a letter, which was supported by former President Trump.

“Ronny Jackson was a brilliant doctor, an admiral and now a GREAT congressman. He is absolutely right about what is written in this MUST READ article, but, unfortunately, nothing will be done about it,” Trump noted in another message written on Truth Social.

Trump cautiously

Despite these comments, Trump could be taking the debate against Biden with greater caution. In a recent interview, he said the president should not be “underestimated” in the debate.

Biden has been meeting with his team for several days at the Camp David presidential retreat, outside Washington, to prepare for the appointment. Trump, for his part, has alternated some rallies with meetings at his Mar-a-Lago mansion, in Florida, with advisors.

The organization of the debate on this date is unusual, since the campaigns have not yet formally started, none have been officially proclaimed by their parties and it is not organized by the Debates Commission.
