Edson Álvarez’s injury in Mexico’s Copa América debut against Jamaica has given us something to talk about. Days after the physical mishap, El Machín decided to speak publicly about the situation through a video broadcast by El Tri on social networks.
Álvarez confirmed what was already an open secret. His football participation in the Copa América ended in that fateful 28th minute against Jamaica. The midfielder explained that he felt it was necessary to do it this way and to be the one, out loud, to make known the situation of his medical side.
“I felt the responsibility and desire to be the one to give you this message. Unfortunately, my participation in Copa América has come to an end. I have no words. “It is a hard blow for me because I was excited, but these are things that happen in football,” she commented.
However, and in his role as captain, the star of West Ham United of the English Premier League will stay with Mexico until the end of their participation in the Copa América. This with the aim of forming a group, supporting and encouraging.
“I also want to communicate that I have made the decision to stay with the team until the end. To support and encourage them as I have always done. Now it will be my turn off the court. It will also help me start my rehabilitation,” he stated.
According to reports from the Mexican website MedioTiempo, Álvarez will work indefinitely on his recovery with the team’s physical therapist, Carlos Pecanha.

The official medical report took several days because it is medically advisable to wait for the affected area to subside. This Wednesday morning, the Mexican team shared the exact diagnosis.
El Machín presents a partial myofascial tear of the biceps femoris muscle and left semitendinosus muscle. El Tri did not provide a recovery time and conditioned it on the player’s evolution. However, for this type of injuries, the deadlines usually exceed one month.
How was Edson Álvarez injured?
The midfielder was injured in the 28th minute of the duel against Jamaica while chasing an opponent. Edson ended up ignoring the action to throw himself onto the grass twisted in pain.
The pivot had to come off the bench and he did so in tears, almost unable to walk and supported at all times by the medical teams. After leaving the field of play, Álvarez had to leave the NRG stadium on a stretcher.
