After months of speculation, rumors and dozens of leaks, Selena Gómez recently confirmed what her followers and fans wanted most: her return to the role of Alex Russo in the sequel to “The Wizards of Waverly Place.”
During her most recent appearance on the show “Jimmy Kimel Live,” which was hosted by her co-star from her series “Only Murders In The Building,” Martin Short, the singer also revealed her enthusiasm for returning to the production that opened the doors to stardom for her.
However, and given the diversity of doubts regarding the role she will have in the new series, which will feature the return of its original cast led by actor David Henrie, Gomez also created some disappointment among her fans by confirming that her work in the production will have more weight behind the cameras than in front of them.

Despite the confirmation from the “Single Soon” singer about her reduced participation in the series, the artist of Latin origin also revealed that she decided to become an executive producer due to her desire to maintain the original message of the series that began in 2007 and ended in 2012.
In previous weeks, during the spread of the first rumors about the series, it had been mentioned that the production would have as its main protagonist the actor David Henrie, in the role of Justin Russo, who would find himself in a new situation after receiving a visit from an inexperienced sorceress who will have to help.
However, despite the revelation of the alleged plot, the regular presence of Selena Gómez, who had been part of the first leaked images of the series, was not confirmed.
Regarding Gómez’s reduced appearance in the Disney series, it is speculated that the businesswoman’s busy schedule would be the main factor in not fully resuming her role in the series.
During the first half of the year, the singer’s name has shone, among other things, for the release of her single “Love On” in February, the presentation of her new film “Emilia Pérez” at the Cannes Film Festival, her work on the fourth season of “Only Murders In The Building”, the start of pre-production of her next film based on the life of singer Linda Ronstadt, as well as the commitments generated by her cosmetics company Rare Beauty, among others.
