Since September of last year there has been talk about the possibility of demolishing the house in Los Angeles, California, where Marilyn Monroe died in 1962. The demolition was suspended, as it was argued that the place was of historical interest.

Months later, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously in favor of the property being added to the Historical-Cultural Monuments. That is, now the residence is considered a historical cultural monument.

According to local media, Councilwoman Traci Park said: “We have the opportunity to do something today that should have been done 60 years ago. “There is no other person or place in the city of Los Angeles as iconic as Marilyn Monroe and her home in Brentwood.”

On the other hand, the non-profit organization Los Angeles Conservancy wrote on its X account (former Twitter): “The Marilyn Monroe Residence in Brentwood is now a Historical-Cultural Monument! Today, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved the nomination for Marilyn Monroe’s final residence. Thank you to everyone who expressed support for her and a HUGE thank you to Councilwoman Traci Park and her team!”

It must be remembered that the current owner of the residence is Brinah Milstein Bank, a millionaire heiress who also owns the house next door and apparently her intention was to demolish the place to make her residence larger.

The heiress bought this residence in the summer of last year for $8.4 million dollars. Now that her plans have been thwarted it is unknown what her next step will be.

It is known that this house has an area of 2,600 square feet distributed over a single floor. This was the only house Monroe had in her life.
