Yangel Herrera, midfielder for the Venezuelan soccer team, highlighted the collective effort and unity of the group as keys to success against Mexico in the Copa América 2024. “We suffered a lot, but always with the confidence that we can also hit hard,” Herrera stated.

“We have suffered a lot, we have known how to go through difficult moments in the two games (Ecuador and Mexico)”, but “always with that confidence that we also hit, we hit hard,” Herrera said in the mixed zone in statements reported by EFE. The player also praised Romo’s performance, calling it a “great game.”

“I am super proud to be part of this process, of this team, because things are going in an incredible way,” celebrated the Girona midfielder.

Herrera highlighted that La Vinotinto “is leaving everything” on the grass and “is fighting” to stay on the same line because “this is not over.”

“We can play well or badly, but you can see that the team is going and really going,” he added.

The Venezuelan team achieved an important 1-0 victory against Mexico in the Copa América, thanks to a penalty goal converted by Salomón Rondón in the 57th minute. Goalkeeper Rafael Romo had an exceptional performance, saving a crucial penalty in the final stretch of the match and ensuring the Vinotinto victory.

With this result, Venezuela is already classified for the quarterfinals, with one match remaining in the group stage against Jamaica.
