Mexican national team coach Jaime Lozano was realistic about his future at the helm of El Tri. After the defeat against Uruguay and the draw with Chile, the Aztec squad is in a difficult situation to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa América.
Lozano acknowledged that his continuity will depend largely on the results that Mexico obtains in the match against Ecuador. However, he also noted that he does not have full control over the final decision, as it falls to the Mexican Football Federation.
Despite the uncertainty about his future, Lozano said he is focused on working hard with his players to get the victory against Ecuador. The coach stressed the importance of maintaining a positive mentality and focusing on the next match.
“They are decisions that do not correspond to me, the selection is exponential, but as a coach you know that you depend on the results, I have to try to get performance from the players, I am calm, there are things that do not correspond to me, it is a process that we will obviously see The rest, empowering players, is important for my process but for El Tri,” Lozano said in statements collected by TUDN.
Lozano also praised the Ecuadorian team, which he described as “the best Ecuador in history.” He warned that he will be a very difficult opponent, but he is confident that his players will be able to overcome the challenge and obtain a pass to the next phase of the tournament.
“Ecuador is not easy, especially in this tournament, you cannot completely dominate an opponent. When we are superior and we have the options, we have to make it concrete, take advantage of those moments, that is, the moment we have freshness and are decisive is what will give us the pass to the next round,” he noted.
In short, Jimmy Lozano is aware of the difficult situation that the Mexican National Team is going through, but he remains hopeful of being able to turn it around and continue leading El Tri. His future will depend largely on the result of the match against Ecuador, but the coach is determined to give his best to achieve victory.
