Radio announcer Howard Eskin will not be able to cover any more Philadelphia Phillies home games this season. The reason? The franchise decided to suspend him after he was found guilty in an internal investigation into a sexual harassment complaint.
According to the investigation, Eskin kissed without her consent an employee of the food company in charge of stocking the inventory of the Citizens Bank Park stadium. After all the commotion caused by this case, the company for which the announcer works had to make a statement.
Audacy, the parent company of Philadelphia-based SportsRadio 94WIP, said it was made aware of the situation after an Aramark employee reported the incident. An internal investigation was launched “immediately” after the report, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
“We are cooperating with our partners at Audacy and Aramark in their investigations,” the club said in a statement. In this regard, they upheld the decision to suspend the broadcaster. “We support Audacy’s decision to suspend Howard Eskin from Citizens Bank Park.”
The food company also issued a statement on the matter and indicated that they are working together with the franchise and the media outlet. “We worked with Audacy and the Phillies to ensure that appropriate measures were taken to protect our employee and all Aramark employees at Citizens Bank Park,” they stated.
What is Aramark? It is a food service provider responsible for supplying food to Citizens Bank Park, the home stadium of the Phillies in Major League Baseball (MLB).
According to the Associated Press (AP) news agency, neither the broadcaster nor the Audacy company responded to a request for comment on this matter.
Howard Eskin is a household name in the Philadelphia sports world. He is one of the most recognized sports broadcasters in television and was a pioneer in launching SportsRadio 94WIP’s first sports talk show in 1986.
