Yandie Martinez, an 18-year-old teenager, is being actively sought as a suspect in the shooting that left Christian Alvarado (29) dead after a crash in Rockland County, New York.
Alvarado, a Pomona resident, was found at an intersection at about 4 p.m. Monday, Haverstraw police said. His car drove through an intersection and crashed into another parked car, after which he was found outside the vehicle with gunshot wounds. The young man was later pronounced dead at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.

Martinez was described as an “armed and dangerous” fugitive who is 6 feet tall, weighs 170 pounds and has distinctive tattoos on his neck and arm.
“The shooting was not random… The suspect and the victim knew each other,” Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould told the Rockland/Westchester Journal News. Monday’s shooting marked Rockland’s fourth homicide in 2024, the same number for all of 2023.
The exact relationship between Martinez and Alvarado remains unclear. Agents interviewed another “person of interest” Monday night but released him, Chief Gould said.
