There are only four teams left with a chance of winning the 2024 Copa América trophy, which will be held in the United States.
After a quarter-final in which Argentina was the first to qualify, the remaining winners were Canada, Colombia and Uruguay. All of them will be looking for the trophy and will only have one last obstacle to overcome in their attempt to fight for the title.
On July 9, Argentina will play Canada at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at 8:00 p.m. (local time). The Canadian team will seek to defeat the current champion, after its good group stage. Scaloni’s team, on the other hand, suffered to eliminate Ecuador and it was not until the penalty shootout that the match was decided.
On July 10, Uruguay will play against Colombia at the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina at 8:00 p.m. (local time). The Uruguayans will have to face Colombia, one of the tournament favorites that has not been defeated for two years when Argentina beat them.
Big prize money in the Copa America
The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) will distribute a total of 72 million dollars among the 16 teams that will compete for the title in the tournament, of which each team will receive 2 million just for participating.
The losers of the semifinal matchups will play a third-place match, with the winner of that game taking home $5 million and the loser taking home $4 million.
For the runner-up of the 2024 Copa América there will be a prize of $7 million dollars, while the champion will be able to enjoy a benefit of $16 million dollars, which will be distributed among the players, the coaching staff and, of course, a good part will go to the coffers of the respective national federation.
